Gary Forby (Benton)

Gary Forby has represented the 59th District since 2003. During his time in the legislature he has focused on improving the regional economy through the creation of jobs. He helped pass Senate Bill 4, which will create jobs through the expansion of a Continental Tire plant in Mount Vernon; he has also worked to bring new coal mining jobs to the region. The Senator introduced House Bill 1391, which makes funding available to struggling health care facilities and addresses unequal distribution of trauma funding throughout the state of Illinois.

Prior to entering politics, Senator Forby worked as an excavating contractor and a farmer. Senator Forby lives in Benton, Illinois.
