Ira Silverstein (Chicago)

Senator Silverstein has represented the 8th District since 1999 and a majority of his work has focused on government reform. Among Silverstein's many accomplishments are the first campaign contribution limits passed in the state's history, an increase in government transparency through reinforcement of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, and the reformation of the process of awarding state contracts in an effort to curb corruption.

Silverstein graduated with his bachelor's degree from Loyola University and received his J.D. from John Marshall Law School. He and his wife Debra have four children and currently reside in Chicago.
