James Clayborne (Belleville)

James Clayborne represents the 57th District of Illinois and serves as the Senate Majority Leader. While serving in the General Assembly he has focused on job creation and promoting small business growth. Among his signature accomplishments is the passage of House Bill 1375, which ensures Illinois projects are bid on and completed by Illinois based companies. He has been honored by various organizations for his dedication to education. Prior to entering the legislature in 1995 he worked as an attorney for the State Attorney's Office.

Senator Clayborne earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Tennessee State University and a law degree from the University of Miami. He lives in Belleville, Illinois.
