Mattie Hunter (Chicago)
Senator Mattie Hunter has served the 3rd District since 2003. She has focused much of her time on crime and health care. Hunter has helped pass over 100 pieces of legislation on these issues, including multiple bills that promote better health practices, including facilitating disclosure of pharmaceutical information between physicians, therapists, and care providers, especially during emergencies.
Prior to becoming a senator, Hunter served as the director of the Chicago Housing Authority. She graduated with her bachelor's degree from Monmouth College and holds a master's degree from Jackson State University. Senator Hunter resides in Chicago.
