Senate President John Cullerton (Chicago)

Senate President John Cullerton has represented the 6th District since 1991, prior to which he served in the Illinois House of Representatives for twelve years. During his time in the Legislature, Cullerton has shown himself to be an admirable lawmaker who has displayed talent in bringing people of differing views together in order to accomplish legislative goals. Cullerton has shown a particular dedication to public safety and has sponsored or authored several bills to that effect. He has received the "Buckle Up America" award for his passing of his Child Passenger Safety Act, which requires children in cars to be placed in safety seats. Cullerton was elected to the position of Senate President in 2009 and has worked tirelessly to fulfill his responsibilities

In addition to being a full-time senator, Cullerton is also a partner in the law firm Thompson Coburn, LLC. He received both his bachelor's degree and J.D. from Loyola University. Cullerton resides in Chicago with his wife Pamela, and they have five children.
