Tony Munoz (Chicago)
Senator Munoz has served the 1st District since 1999, prior to which he served with the Chicago Police Department. Drawing on his time a police officer, he has focused his efforts on a variety of issues, including gun control. He has worked to limit the amount of ammunition allowed in feed devices and to introduce an assault weapons ban after the federal ban ended in 2004. Additionally, he has championed veterans' programs for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder counseling, and Hispanic issues, such as increasing the amount of bilingual and Hispanic people employed by the state.
Munoz is a co-founder of the Latino Caucus, a group of senators and representatives who dedicate themselves to the betterment of the Hispanic Community in Illinois. He and his wife Patricia have three children and reside in McKinley Park.
