William Haine (Alton)
Bill Haine has served the 56th District since 2002. During his time in the legislature, he has worked to increase educational opportunities throughout the state. The Senator has also fought the production of methamphetamine through his sponsorship of Bill 73, and has sought increased penalties for criminals. He has additionally worked to improve public safety by passing a variety of measures against sex offenders, including requirements that require offenders to register any internet identity and that prohibit school boards from employing known offenders.
Senator Haine served one tour of duty in Vietnam in 1967. He graduated with his undergraduate degree from St. Louis University. Haine lives with his wife Anna in Alton, Illinois, and they have seven children.
